A banal comparison best describes Heidelberg's marketing work: a corporate presence from a single source. There is nothing to add to that. At a time when companies were mostly firing decentralized and poorly coordinated content at customers, investors and employees, Heidelberg opened up new horizons as a solution provider with a uniquely integrated range of solutions. The pivotal point for sales and marketing was the drupa trade fair. Here, every four years, experts were able to see for themselves the intelligently coordinated range of services offered by the global market leader. I was able to be an active part of the outstanding drupa teams four times. First in 2000 and most recently in 2016. There, after my role in the successful business turnaround and return to profitability, I was responsible for all internal and external communication. Why? Quite simply: If a company aims to take on a technologically leading role in the market with integrated solution offerings and new digital business models, its own communication must function smoothly at all levels. Far too often, you see that "marketing" and "sales" basically just live in different ivory towers and budgets are squandered in an uncoordinated manner. This phase was long since overcome and the focus was on the consistent end-to-end digitization of customer value creation, especially on automated system solutions for machines, software, consumables and services for the target markets of packaging and advertising printing. All of this was the basis of the "Smart Print Shop", which was introduced in 2016. Intelligent machines that independently calculate the optimal production planning and process it fully automatically.
After I had already been able to accompany the partnership with RICOH in terms of communication, the first digital printing machines were introduced in 2016
